As you can see from our Location page, the Auditorium di Mecenate hotel Rome is within easy walking distance of some of Rome’s most famous landmarks. The awe inspiring Coliseum is just 10 minutes away by foot, whereas the magnificent golden Basilica of St Maria Maggiore is even closer - literally on our doorstep. The papal Basilica of St John Lateran, the Holy Stairs and the Basilica of the Holy Cross containing relics of the Passion of Christ are also within easy walking distance. There are also a plethora of restaurants and bars around Termini and the San Lorenzo student area, but perhaps our favourite area is the district of Monti with its trendy boutiques, charming cobbled streets and vibrant atmosphere.

To give you an idea of how conveniently we are located to see what Rome has to offer, take a glance below:

  • Basilica of St Mary Major, Basilica of St John Lateran, Monti, Termini, the Coliseum, the Imperial Roman Forum – all within 10 minutes by foot.
  • Piazza Repubblica – 1 stop / 2 mins by Metro Line A from Termini
  • Piazza Barberini and the Trevi Fountain – 2 stops / 5 mins by Metro Line A from Termini
  • Spanish Steps – 3 stops / 6 mins by Metro Line A from Termini
  • Circus Maximus – 3 stops / 5 mins by Metro Line B from Termini

If you prefer to go further afield and explore outside of Rome then one could also easily visit:

» Ostia Antica
Some say this ancient Roman port containing Etruscan artefacts is more mind-blowing than any of the wonders to be found within the city itself. It’s also near the beach, which is handy!

» Sperlonga
A popular beach resort with Romans and Neapolitans and just over an hour from Rome by train. Expect a party atmosphere and better pizza than you’ll find in the capital.

» Ariccia
One of the countless little medieval towns in the hills surrounding Rome, Ariccia is famous for its Porchetta - a seasoned style of pork and speciality of the region of Lazio.

For more information, inspiration and all round good advice, speak to us when you get here and we’ll be happy to assist you in really getting the very best out of your time here in Italy. Here at the Auditorium di Mecenate budget Rome accommodation we’re famous for our service!
